Poster Sessions

Poster sessions as we know them are difficult to recreate in an online environment. However, we will do our best to offer you part of that experience in our virtual poster sessions. For this, We are using Gather town as a platform.

How to use Gather town to present a poster in 18th Horizons in Molecular Biology

The posters will be displayed in 3 poster sessions (I, II and III) during the conference, but the presentations will take place on:

  • Tuesday, 14th September, 12:45-14:15 (CEST)
  • Wednesday, 15th September, 17:15- 18:45 (CEST)
  • Thursday, 16th September, 12:45- 14:15 (CEST)

In the back of the conference hall in Gather town, you will find the rooms for the Poster Sessions

Once you enter the room, there will be a help desk, a summary of the posters presented in the session, and a link to vote for the best poster. Press X to interact with the objects.

You can walk around the room using the arrow keys. The poster spaces are indicated with a code and colored.

Once you enter the poster space (colored area), you will see a preview of the poster. Press X to interact with the poster.

While interacting with the poster, you will be able to visualize the poster and talk/see other participants also interacting with the poster. Turn on the microphone.  You should use the touchpad or mouse to scroll to move the poster up and down.

On the right side of the screen, you will find the tools:

  • Pointer: once the icon is selected, red circles will appear to all participants by right clicking with the mouse.
  • Zoom in/out: just clicking on the + or – sign you can increase/decrease the poster size. The zooming in/out can only be seen by the participant making the change, the others cannot see the alterations.

Use the X icon on the top right of the screen to finish the interaction with the poster.

If you have any questions or problems, do not hesitate to contact us at the help desk.

We wish you a nice and insightful poster session!
